Your first day in Party Land
A little exploring, a few practice games, and one good group photo. Here is a comfortable way to find your feet before a full board game.
A gentle first-session route
- Choose a difficulty everyone feels comfortable trying. Treat the first session as practice rather than a score challenge.
- Let each player choose a favorite partner. Give the newest player time to get used to moving around before entering a game.
- Visit Game Park for a short practice session. Read the instructions aloud and agree on who is doing what.
- Take a Hometown break before committing to a board. Save shopping and a group photo for a relaxed finish.
Keep the right controls nearby
The manual uses the position of the face buttons for a sideways Joy-Con. The equivalent full-controller buttons are listed below. If you have remapped a controller, follow your own system settings.
| Action | Sideways Joy-Con | Two Joy-Cons / Pro Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Move | Stick | Left stick |
| Interact / confirm | Right face button | A |
| Jump / back | Bottom face button | B |
| Game Pad | Top face button | X |
| Sticker Book / map | Left face button | Y |
| Pause | Hold + or − | Hold + or − |
| Change camera | SL | L |
| Use camera | SR | R |
Choose difficulty for the whole group
The game offers Easy through Super Hard. Start lower when players are still learning to coordinate; raise the challenge after everyone can explain the objective without prompting.
Our board quota examples use Medium. Read your current board screen before planning a delivery, because difficulty changes both the target and the time limit. A published Medium number is not a promise for another setting.
Agree on a host before you begin
Have one person handle menus and transitions, then ask the group before starting the next activity. This avoids leaving a younger player behind while they are still exploring.
In a local session the first controller is the host; online, the room creator hosts. If a guest cannot open a building or start an activity, ask the host rather than reconnecting a controller.
